This was a community involvement public art project that started in September 2015 and was “completed” in July 2016. The project was intended to be ongoing however, with new elements appearing over time, and small changes being made. Here are some of the highlights of the finished work, if you are interested in seeing more, and learning about the process, follow the link at the end of this article.
This mural was designed by myself with a group of area students including : Adriana Robbins, Xiansyu Jin, Arianna Burdick, Clara-Luz Hoffman, Jessica Oppert, Ben Doukas, Moli Mitchel, and Ben Abraham.
The image wraps around the entire lobby. It incorporates existing art into the design as well.
To appease the individual nature of the artists, and to practice working on a large scale, some of the work was made on removable/reversible canvases.
“The Ghost Ship” Designed by Jessica Oppert and Troy Zaushny, painted by the kids of Hygienic Arts’ “Artist Academy Jr.” program.
